Özet
Solunum yolu enfeksiyonu olan COVID-19, katabolizmayı arttıran metabolik bir rahatsızlığa neden olduğundan, bağılışıklığı kuvvetlendirmek için, bireysel düzeyde, yeterli ve dengeli beslenme, çok önemlidir. Bağışıklık sistemi ile yakından ilişkili olan inflamatuar tepkinin aktivasyonu ve mitokondriyal düzeyde oksidatif stresin teşvik edilmesine ek olarak, bağışıklık sistemi; hormonal düzenleme, metabolik düzenleme, sirkadiyen ritimler ve besin kullanımı gibi fizyolojik düzenlemenin birçok yönüyle ilişkilidir. Yetersiz beslenme-enfeksiyon döngüsü, özellikle savunmasız popülasyonlarda önemli ölçüde morbidite ve mortalite ile ilişkilidir. Enerji, protein ve spesifik mikro besinlerin yetersiz alımı, baskılanmış bağışıklık fonksiyonu ve enfeksiyona karşı artan duyarlılık ile ilişkilidir. Sonuç olarak, beslenme alışkanlıklarının ve yaşam tarzı değişikliklerinin, COVID-19'a yatkınlık ve iyileşme üzerindeki etkilerini değerlendirmek çok önemlidir. Bu nedenle, bireylerin doymuş yağ ve şeker oranı yüksek yiyecekleri yemekten kaçınmaları ve bunun yerine yüksek miktarda lif, doymamış yağlar, probiyotikler ve antioksidanlar tüketerek, bağışıklık fonksiyonunu güçlendirmeleri gerekmektedir. Bu derlemede, COVID-19, beslenme ve bağışıklık sistemi arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştr.
